Manual QA Engineer

Short Product description:

  • Client–server shipping platform with a browser-based web app and native iOS/Android clients, integrating major marketplaces and carriers (UPS, USPS, FedEx). Heavy traffic system is microservices-based behind an API gateway – covering order ingest/sync, rate shopping, label generation, tracking/returns, billing, notifications, and printer connectivity with event-driven workflows and centralized auth.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Design and execute functional, regression, exploratory, and UI/UX tests across web and mobile.
  • Validate APIs contracts and cross-service integrations.
  • Test core e-com flows: auth, catalog/search, checkout, payments, promos/pricing, inventory, orders, shipping/tracking, refunds/returns etc.
  • Verify data integrity with SQL.
  • Use browser DevTools and network proxies for traffic/storage/caching analysis.
  • Create/maintain test cases & checklists in the test management system; manage defects lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Product/Dev/Design; clarify requirements, estimate testing effort, and sign off on releases.

Tech Requirements:

  • 2-4+ years in manual QA for web and mobile apps.
  • Strong HTTP & client-server understanding; hands-on API testing (Postman/Swagger).
  • Experience testing microservices (async flows, idempotency, retries, eventual consistency).
  • SQL for data checks; comfort with JSON and reading stack traces.
  • Web: HTML/CSS basics, Chrome DevTools (Elements/Network/Storage).
  • Mobile: testing on real devices & emulators, network throttling, permissions, push, deep links.
  • Agile/Scrum experience.
  • English Intermediate+ for clear documentation and day-to-day collaboration (Ukrainian/Russian language will be a plus). 
  • Git basics (will be a plus).

Process knowledge:

  • Testing foundations (ISTQB-aligned will be a plus).
  • Defect lifecycle, root-cause/containment/prevention.
  • Test design techniques.
  • Coverage & traceability: requirements coverage, RTM, entry/exit criteria, risk-based prioritization.
  • Agile principles and core frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) architecture understanding.
  • Estimation approaches.

Soft skills:

  • Analytical thinking, high attention to detail, and clear written/verbal communication.
  • Proactive risk spotting and process improvement.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
  • Multi-tasking.
